Business Development Officer

The Business Development Officer will implement strategic fundraising efforts in support of Brightwater: A Center for the Study of Food, NWACC’s new state-of-the-art culinary school located at Bentonville’s new 8th Street Market.   The position will report to Brightwater’s Executive Director, as well as work closely with the NWACC Foundation, and be charged with cultivating relationships and developing philanthropic support and partnerships for various Brightwater programs and student needs.  

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years' experience in: marketing, fundraising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community;
• Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with corporate clients, or equivalent experience;
• Ability to use independent judgment and manage and impart information to a range of clientele;
• Ability to identify and assess business needs to develop and implement new strategies and procedures;
• Proven track record of securing fundraising or other revenue streams including in-kind contributions;
• Evidence of network building in a previous role;
• Evidence of project or program management in a previous role;
• Results driven, dynamic, enterprising and flexible;
• Polished communication skills, both verbally and in writing;
• Ability to work as a team member within a dynamic learning culture.

1. Designs, implements, and manages a comprehensive proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and individual relationships by directing and coordinating activities related to obtaining monetary support.
2. Works closely with NWACC Foundation and Brightwater Executive Director in establishing private funding priorities and advises them on trends in the philanthropic world that affect organizational priorities.
3. Maintains high quality stewardship process for active prospects and donors. Ensures that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnership by maintaining detailed records of solicitation activities.
4. Maintains a rigorous schedule of contacts with current individuals, corporate and foundation representatives, creating moves management plans related to them, which include strategies of engagement and solicitation of contacts. Identifies and cultivates new relationships with prospective corporate, foundation and government funding sources.
5. Works diligently to increase awareness of program externally by supporting NWACC public relations and marketing teams.
6. Generates new business agreements by coordinating requirements—developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
